Dulcimers

Multi-talented Almon Williams crafted many dulcimers for use by library patrons. Almon and his wife Allison were a driving force in the Alfred community. Almon served many years as town clerk and code enforcement officer. Allison served as library trustee, town newspaper correspondent, Alfred Historical Committee member and in many Parish church offices. Almon’s dulcimer playing was a fixture at children’s Sunday School services which the Williams led for half a century. In their eighties, Almon and Allison traveled widely to entertain at “old folks homes” playing the dulcimer and leading sing-alongs.
