Magnuson Wing

Local benefactors C.G. and Donna DeHaven Magnuson funded the two-story masonry wing addition that doubled the size of the Library. Great efforts were made to blend the appearance of the new wing with the existing library building. Construction was closely monitored by Donna’s father Barney DeHaven- long time library trustee- who lived across Kennebunk Road from the library. The new facility was wheelchair accessible with ample room for the fiction collection, and had a downstairs Community room. With the addition of the Magnuson Wing, the Library’s primary entrance was moved from Kennebunk Road to Saco Street. The splendid oak circulation desk was moved to the new entrance. The Magnuson addition was dedicated May 23, 1993.
